Dark Angels Green Power Armor

Matt Antone

The Dark Angels' iconic green power armor, known as "Caliban Green," has a somber history tied to their homeworld's destruction. While they originally wore black armor during the Great Crusade, they adopted their distinctive dark green coloration after the fall of Caliban and their Primarch Lion El'Jonson's disappearance. The color serves as a reminder of Caliban's vast forests where their original fortress-monastery, The Order, stood.

  1. Apply two thin coats using an airbrush. I use a .6 needle straight from the bottle. You many want to thin your primer more.
  2. Apply one thin coat of the black paint. I like to do this so I have a matching paint if I need to start over on some part of the model.

2. Airbrush Volumes

The volume should be applied as if the light source is pointing down and to the left of the model's front and back.Start to build volumes with the 1st highlight color. Then within the confines of the first highlight gradually add more volume with the 2nd highlight color.

Pro Tip: Don't clean your airbrush for the second highlight.

If you mix the second highlight ahead of time, you can gradually add it into your airbrush cup until it's at full strength.
